Bit of a tan in Vietnam

I'm in Vietnam now, quite enjoying my travels with Kristy and the Gondziolas. We've just spent a few days relaxing on an island called Cat Ba in northern Vietnam, which has been beautiful and fun... Tomorrow we're going back to Hanoi and then starting down south towards Laos, our next destination. I remember hearing some bad reports about the people in Vietnam, but I'm pleased to report that in my experience they have been unfounded - people have been a bit pushy, but generally very kind.

Before Vietnam we were in Malaysia, which redifined multiculturalism for me, although I was only in KL, so it might not have been a very representative view. Still though, I've never been anywhere like it - so many different cultures coexisting on the very same street, and not all assimilated into some uniform majority. Very inspiring.

I'm really looking forward to Laos. More later!
